Send me a brief.

This form will guide you through some of the key things I’ll need to know before I can discuss your illustration requirements and provide a quote.

Fill it out and submit, or, use it to make some notes then give me a call — I’m always happy to chat.

If you want to start with a general idea of my process, and how I price the work I do, you may want to check out this page about the illustration process first.

Commissioner's Name
About The Project
What would you like me to draw, and why? Be descriptive! This field lets you type in a lot. Or email me a brief to go along with this form.
(Publication / edition / campaign / internal comms / newsletter etc.) Give me a little background about what you're doing and how the illustration/s will fit into that.
When do you need it? You can specify just the final art, or timelines with staged deadlines (roughs / revisions / finals) if you have a detailed project.
Colour / Black & White?
e.g. Loose washy watercolour; bold crisp pen and ink; etc.
Specify the size or resolution the finished work will be used at. e.g. 60x90cm, A4 full page, screen: 2500x1000px, Instagram: 1080x1080px, etc.
e.g. file preparation specifications; etc.
Usage Rights Required
Illustration fees are determined mostly based on the usage required of the final art. You may only need to use the work once, on a printed flyer, in one city, and don't need the illustration to be exclusive. Or, you might need worldwide exclusivity for two years, covering print, online and broadcast, with reproduction rights for associated merchandise. Your answers here will help me prepare an accurate quote for you. Fill in whichever questions you can answer. If you don't yet know the answer to a question that's fine, just leave it blank and we can discuss it.
A book title, a magazine title, the name of a product for which this will form part of the packaging, etc.
This is the nature of the communication in which the illustration is being used. e.g. Advertising, Promotional / Point of Sale, Internal Comms, Educational, Governmental, Publishing (trade, educational, membership magazine, etc.)
This is the specific medium/s in which the illustration will be used. e.g. Social media campaign, consumer or trade magazine, annual report, book, website, apps, packaging, printed flyer, etc. Specify all that apply.
Nature of License
The nature of the license you need is one of the key factors that adjust the pricing of the usage license. A guide to the terms of license and copyright in Australia can be found at: https://www.artslaw.com.au/information-sheet/copyright/
Do you need this nature of license for a single use, a set amount of time (weeks / months / years), or indefinitely? For example, printing a menu likely to be replaced in a year would mean you don't need more than 12 months license. If the imagery will be part of your business branding that you need to protect for the life of your business, you'll want a longer license period.
Sometimes, you might be making a print run of products. That number of uses can be noted here. Or, you may want to use an illustration over a set number of issues (e.g. four uses for a quarterly publication).
Do you only need the license for one city, state or country, or will the end use of the illustration be seen further afield too? Will it be used online in only one language or multiple?
Any other notes about how you intend to use the illustrations.
If you have a budget range or fixed price ceiling in mind, let me know. I'll write a quote based on the details you provide in this form, and if there's a mismatch between your budget and the usage requested, I can suggest ways to adjust the scope of the project to meet your budget.
